A Rant...

Dear American television watching public...

Please for the love of all that is holy! Stop watching "Deal or No Deal". Jaime, this means you too!

Howie - "Oh here, we're going to give you 250,000 dollars, no questions...pay off some debt, buy a house, start (and maybe finish) your kid's college fund..."

Stupid, Greedy Contestant - "No thanks, why would I settle for a lousy quarter mil when I can risk it all for ONE MILLION DOLLARS?!"

Howie - "Well, the odds show that you'll be lucky to come away with anywhere near that much..."

Relative of SGC - "Oh man, that banker ain't got nothin' on you! Don't take that..settling for a lousy $250,000 would be just plain stupid!"

SGC - "Odds? I don't care me about some odds, I gotta feelin' I picked me the right case, and I want me some million dollars!! NO DEAL!!!"

Happy Birthday, Brother!

It's a certain older brother's...ahem...30th birthday today! Happy Birthday!!!

Kevin and Param's Great Adventure!!!

Our friends Kevin and Param are leaving for New York City today, and we wish them all the best and hope they have a safe trip. Kevin was recently hired at a stock brokerage in Manhattan. We know they'll be successful, and we look forward to their triumphant return!

Can you guess how many times Geoff has helped Kevin move?

Earth Day, Hazzah!

It's earth day today, and while I believe that every day should be Earth day, go on out there and do something earth friendly or, ugh, green...
Plant a tree, take the bus, install a CFL, reduce your water use...anything! I urge you to make a lasting change.

Dining Out for Life!

Well, I know Geoff does most of the posting on our blog, but I just haven't felt like there is anything I needed to post about, until now. On Thursday, April 24th, Lifelong AIDS Alliance is sponsoring "Dine out for Life". It is an event that requires everyone to do something they already love to do, go out to eat! LLAA is a great organization and they have a couple of AWESOME programs to help people who are living with AIDS and their families. Just one of which is the food delivery program I used to volunteer with.

Participating restaurants in the Seattle area will donate 30% of their proceeds from the day to LLAA (Yes it includes the bar tab too!). So please check out this website for more info and to find a place to "Dine out for Life" on Thursday. If you happen to be in the West Seattle area, stop by Abbondanza Pizzeria. I'll be the Lifelong volunteer there thanking everyone for their participation. Or, if you live further north, go to Djan's Dining in Wallingford where Lian will be the representative from LLAA.

Hope to see everyone there!

He asks of us, to stand, and we must!

Jaime and I went to see "Body of War" last night at the Varsity Theater in the U district. It's the story of Thomas Young, a man who on September 13th, 2001 enlisted in the Army after seeing George Bush standing on the rubble of the World Trade Center. He was sent to Iraq (not Afghanistan) and was shot through the back on his first mission - he is now paralyzed from the neck down...

It was an incredibly moving story - his transformation from Hawk to Dove, and now an open critic of the war in Iraq. Eddie Vedder provided an original song for the movie - No More - after having many opportunities to meet with Thomas.

No matter which side of the argument you find yourself on, if you get the chance, please see this movie.

Enjoy, and think -

Death & Taxes, and Jury Summons...

So today at work I had my annual performance review. It went well, of course, and I got a sweet raise. "Awesome!!!" I thought to myself. Not even the rain on the way to the bus could dampen my spirits! Then I got home and opened the mail. There was a jury summons waiting for me.

Ladies and gentlemen, there is indeed balance in the universe...

Happy Birthday Dad(s)

So Friday was dad Graves' birthday (we'll let him share his age if he so chooses) so we had a nice barbecue with the family on Saturday. Thank god for the nice weather! Just wanted to share the photos from the evening...
It was great to see the fam!

Today also happens to be dad Forbes' birthday (again, how old is up to him to share). So happy birthday to them both.

California Dreamin'

So Jaime and I spent the weekend down in San Francisco for several events - a family dinner, a bridal shower (whilst I was at The Saloon) and oh yeah, a FLIPPIN EDDIE VEDDER CONCERT!!! That's right, the principle songwriter and totally rockin' lead singer of the greatest band ever was performing sans backup at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. Jaime and I made the drive down from San Fran via the coast highway and had an absolute blast at the concert. As Jaime said, sometimes Eddie's voice is hidden in the music of Pearl Jam, but when he's solo, there's no hiding his incredible baritone...

I was excited to hear songs off the "Into the Wild" soundtrack. Jaime's two favorite songs were a cover of Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" and Eddie's own "No More", an anti-war song written about a soldier whom was paralyzed in the Iraq war. We had great seats in the 14th row center (though there wasn't a bad seat in the house) but unfortunately security was pretty tight, so no pictures. All in all, it was probably one of the best concerts I have EVER been to. So incredibly emotional and resounding. The man is a gift to music lovers everywhere.

Ok, enough about the concert. We also had a great time visiting family and having a barbeque at Jaime's grandfather's house (Thanks, Steve!) If you'd like to take a look at the pictures, here's a link. It's always a great time when we get together with the Forbes/Franks.
Also I got my fix of In'n'Out Burger!!!
