Thank you to my wonderful husband for surprising me with a dinner to Canlis for my 29th birthday. I can't even explain how wonderful of an experience it was.
We started with a before dinner drink. I had the lake union special (gin and lemon juice with a froth of red wine on top) which was amazing. We had a taste of the asparagus soup, shared a Canlis salad and chose an excellent Pinot Noir from California recommended by the Wine Director, Failla Occidental Ridge.
Our main courses were Copperhead Salmon and New York Steak (guess who chose which) and we shared sides of truffle fries and the most amazing twice baked potato on the planet.
Dessert was a trio of ice cream cones and a tropical creme brulee. Plus a glass of 20 year port.
Decadence at its finest. It was three hours of truly enjoying food and drink and each others company. Thank you hubby for one of the most memorable evenings in my life!

One Badass Mofo!
So I went to the Mariners game last night with Sis in law Michal and her mom Sue, and the honorable Mike McCready, most badass guitar player of our generation, was there to play the Star Spangled Banner. Enjoy!!!
(I also got to enjoy a cream cheese hot dog and garlic fries!!! Oh, and a pretty good game too, even though the M's lost)

It's not you, it's me!
It's ok, Sportwagen...
I don't blame you; I know, in the end, it wasn't your fault. It was a manufacturing defect...I blame the person that designed your sunroof frame/drain, and the worker in Puebla who didn't use enough sealant...
Yes, the Sportwagen had its first real problem. Last week while Jaime and I were out running errands, I rounded a corner, and a drip of water fell from the overhead console onto my hand. "Odd" I thought...the seepage continued. An hour later, the SW was safely in the confines of the garage at Pignataro VW and the capable hands of my brother, Ryan. It didn't take him long to discover the source (after completely removing the sunroof). Now we're just waiting on parts. Most likely, since this is a new model, and as far as we've heard, no one else has reported this problem, VW is investigating the exact issue, and will issue a Technical Service Bulletin to have other Sportwagens checked for similar issues. Ryan said there are frames available for replacement, but VW will not release the parts for installation...
Gotta love being a guinea pig!

Liberty Belle B-17
So dad and I made it down to Boeing Field to see the Liberty Belle, a fully restored and operable (except for the machine guns, of course) B-17. It is only one of 14 that are fully flight operational in the world! We were supposed to get a tour inside the plane, but they were selling so many "flights" that they kept sending the plane out. Regardless, I got some REALLY cool pictures and video! Here's the link to the videos -

Liberty Belle Takeoff (sorry this one ends short, my batteries died!)
The entire photo album is here. Here are some previews -
